Ladies & gentlemen, this weekend we have one of San Diego’s heavy hitters as a guest DJ on our show. He’s DJ’d at venues all across the nation including the LA, San Francisco, Chicago, Las Vegas & more! He hosts a show on SiriusXM (CH13) and is a part of the Party Naked group + The Roster DJs. San Diego, stand up – we have DJ Kaos as our guest DJ!
We sat down with Kaos and asked him a few questions!
• What got you into DJing and how long has it been? And where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I got into DJ’ing when I was 10 years old. I used to watch DJ’s at different parties I’d go to with my parents. DJ’s at weddings, quinceaneras, etc. I was intrigued with how DJ’s could just control crowds with their song selection. Additionally, at the time, San Diego also had some amazing on-air DJ’s on the local hip hop radio station Z90. DJ Rags in particular played a huge influence on me. I used to record his live mixes and try to imitate what he was doing. As far as 5 years from now, hopefully I’ll keep building on my traveling. Playing new markets and internationally on a more consistent basis.
• Are you also into production? If so, how would you define your sound? (If not, is it something you’ve considered?)
I’ve worked on production in the past, I don’t think I have a specific sound. But the majority of my production comes in the form of custom edits and bootlegs to help elevate my sets. Maybe down the road when I have more spare time I’ll really get into production.
• Where else can our audience hear you DJ (shows/events, radio, etc.)?
I travel around the country to cities like SF, Vegas, Chicago, Dallas, NY and the north east right now to DJ venues. I also keep a stacked lineup at home at some notable venues like Sunburn Pool, Sidebar, Oxford and El Chingon. In addition, I am the on-air host for The Roster Radio & Sunburn Radio which airs weekly on SiriusXM.
• Who are some of the artists you’ve worked with, opened/closed up for?
I’ve been DJ’ing for quite some time now and have been lucky to perform with artists like Snoop Dogg, E-40, Robin Thicke, Lil Wayne, Drake, Method Man, Weeknd, Tory Lanez, Trey Songz, Nelly, Duke Dumont, Major Lazer, Zedd, Fedde Le Grand, Steve Aoki, Demi Lovato, DJ Mustard, The Dream, T-Pain, DJ AM, Jazzy Jeff, Shakira and many many more.
• If you could play music anywhere in the world, what are the top 3 places you would want to DJ?
Anywhere in Australia, Tokyo, and Italy.
