We’re constantly working to bring you some of the best DJs in the game. Some of you already know who this DJ is — from making noise in the Bay Area club scene, to competing in the DMC & Redbull Music 3Style competition and all the way to producing music for the Jabbawockeez! If you don’t know who this man is, get familiar! We proudly present this week’s guest DJ – Goldenchyld, from San Jose, CA!
We sat down with Goldenchyld and asked him a few questions!
• What got you into DJing and how long has it been? And where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I got into DJing when I was around 12 or 13 years old. I’ve spent well over 20 years actively DJing now, which is crazy to me and it lead me into club ownership with my Partner Marcus Adams (DJ Nappy). Within the next 5 years I will continue to DJ and to conduct great business with the best in our industry. We also have plans to scale the Avery Lounge business, expanding into different markets and continuing to use the platform to work with and cultivate great up and coming DJ talent.
• Are you also into production? If so, how would you define your sound? (If not, is it something you’ve considered?)
Yes, I’ve been producing for a long time now and have produced on records for artists such as DJ Mustard, Travis Scott, Chris Brown. I’ve also produced and scored multiple shows and soundtracks for the Jabbawockeez along with my crew @Thebangerz.
• Where else can our audience hear you DJ?
I’ve really dug my feet in the ground at Avery Lounge to develop a sonic identity that fits our market on a local level, but I still run around from time to time to work with friends in different markets up and down the West Coast.
• Who are some of the artists you’ve worked with, opened/closed up for?
I’ve gotten to cut my teeth working with some of who I consider the greatest! From Z-Trip, ISP (Invisibl Skratch Piklz), Craze, Jazzy Jeff, Skratch Bastid, and more on a DJ Level.
• If you could play music anywhere in the world, what are the top 3 places you would want to DJ?
I’d love to peep the Dubai scene, a bunch of my favorites seem to roll out there quite a bit. I also would love to head out to Japan to rock as well! Still haven’t been to either! Hope to cross those ones off the list soon.
