GET READY FOR STEVE AOKI’S HIP HOP ALBUM “KOLONY”
What we’ve learned from Steve Aoki over the years is never expect the expected with his music. He’s released so much different music, and Hip Hop is no stranger to him, having worked with Kid Cudi, Snoop Lion, Lil Jon and many more. Aoki fans now have another Hip Hop project to look forward to, and that’s Aoki’s new album “Kolony.” Two tracks have already surfaced, the first called “Without U” featuring DVBBS and 2 Chainz, the second track is called “Night Call” featuring Lil Yachty and Migos.
When asked about the album, Aoki said in an interview, “When I was in the studio working on this project or a song with someone that made it to the album, they brought their own crew, and I’d turn around and be like, ‘this squad is like a colony. We’re like a colony, because it just felt like the energy in the room was more vibrant. It was a lot of energy from people flowing from the studio, and I loved that think tank, that group collaboration, and spirit.”
Since Aoki is no stranger to Hip Hop, there will be high expectations. With the ridiculous amount of talent that’s been commissioned for collabs, I’d be pretty upset if the album turns out to be a flop.
Mark your calendars, “Kolony” will be released on July 21, and is available for pre-order here.
